New Muskingum Valley Park District Executive Director

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Muskingum County Commissioners met Muskingum Valley Park District’s new Executive Director.

Russell Edgington started his position on August 23, 2017 and is now just looking forward to meeting with community members. Edgington said the organization is looking into working on the local parks and seeing what’s best for the community.

“Ultimately it’s going to be what the community wants,” Edgington said. “So my goal is to get out get to know the community and then find out what it is that the residents of Muskingum County, Zanesville, and the other municipalities want and need. Then that’s what the park district will provide.”

Edgington admitted there was no transition. For on his first day of work he and his colleagues immediately started looking into the grants they’ve received.

“There’s like $2.3 million worth of grants some of these have been in the works for more than five years,” Edgington said. “So sitting down with some of the consultants and other folks, looking at what the grants were acquired for and seeing how we can make those go forward.”

Edgington is excited to meet the community and put together a park district everyone can enjoy.
