New Noble County Sheriff Appointed

It’s Stephen Hannum’s first official day on the job as Noble County Sheriff.

He will be replacing Landen T. Smith, who resigned from office last May after being charged with nepotism and misuse of the sheriff’s vehicles.

The Noble County Democratic Committee appointed Hannum to the position yesterday.

Hannum says he was one of three individuals interested in the position.

He says he plans to run in the November 2010 Election in hopes of finishing out the rest of Smith’s term, which ends in 2012.

Hannum was Chief Detective of the Noble County Sheriff’s Department before taking this position.
