Norma Baird

Norma Jean Baird, 95 of Gratiot, died at 12:30 AM Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at the Morrison House Hospice following a short illness.
She was born on Friday, April 11, 1930, in Duncan Falls, Ohio, the daughter of the late Frank and Angie Spangler Johnson.
Norma attended Gratiot United Methodist and Jacksontown United Methodist Church. She worked at Ohio Power and was a previous secretary for the Gratiot Church for several years. She was a member of the Gratiot Garden Club and the Hannah and later the Esther Circle at the church. She was an amazing cook and baker. She had a green thumb and could bring about any plant back to life. She also loved spending time with her family and spoiling her grand and great grandchildren.
She is survived by three daughters, Lynne (Jeff) Riggle, Holly (Dan) Wilson and Kristin Baird; six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren with another coming soon; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Norma was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Charles Bob Robert Baird, a granddaughter, Rachel Riggle, her two brothers Marion and Merlin Johnson and sister Helen Deal.
Friends may call 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at the Bryan & Hardwick Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, October 24, 2025, at the Bryan & Hardwick Funeral Home with Jeff Iden officiating. Burial will conclude at the Poplar Fork Cemetery, Gratiot, Ohio.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Oaks at Bethesda for their kindness over the past 3 years in assisted living, especially Ashley, Brooklynn, Judy, and Maria. She made many good friends while living there and felt like they were her extended family. Also thank you to the staff at the Morrison House for their compassion in her final hours on earth. She is now rejoicing in Heaven with her husband, granddaughter, brothers and sister. She will be missed on this earth but deserves all the joys that Heaven has in store for her now and forever more.
