Norma Headley

Norma Mae Birkhimer Headley, 88, of Adams Lane, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 15, 2026, at Adams Lane Care Center while in the loving presence of her family. She was born September 19, 1937, in Dresden, Ohio, daughter of the late Frank and Garnet (Layton) Birkhimer.
Norma was a faithful and devoted member of Market Street Baptist Church, where she loved participating in church activities and spending time with her church family. Her faith was an important part of her life and guided her with kindness, compassion, and love for others. Norma enjoyed sewing, cooking, baking, and caring for those around her. She especially loved babysitting, a passion that brought immeasurable joy to her life and led to the creation of a very special extended family. Above all, Norma cherished time spent with her family and friends, finding her greatest happiness in the relationships she nurtured throughout her life.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Nancy Headley of Zanesville and Karen Swingle of Newark, Ohio; her brothers, Bill (Linda) Birkhimer, Larry (Theresa) Birkhimer, and Danny (Lori) Birkhimer; and her sisters, Carol (Hazen) Barr and Kathy (Jack) Holdsworth. She also leaves behind her special family, Todd and Jennie Woodard and Hayden and Jay Woodard, whom she loved dearly and who brought great meaning and joy to her life.
In addition to her parents, Norma was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Headley, who passed away in April 1989; her brothers, Frank, Jack, Fred, and Randy Birkhimer; and her sister, Wanda McGee.
Norma will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her gentle spirit, her loving heart, and the countless lives she touched through her kindness and care. Her legacy of love, devotion, and service to others will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
A cremation will take place under the direction of BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE, AT OUR LOCALLY OWNED AND OPERATED CREMATORY. Friends and family may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 1, 2026 at the Market Street Baptist Church. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Brian Owens officiating. Burial of ashes will take place at Rose Hill Cemetery at a later date.
