North Zanesville’s Walmart celebrates a new remodel

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – A local retailer has spent the past 22 weeks remodeling their store. The completion of the remodel was celebrated this morning with a ribbon cutting ceremony.
The Maple Avenue Walmart invited the community to celebrate the completion of the project with food trucks, special prize giveaways, and donations awarded to local organizations like Forever Dads, Habitat for Humanity, and Marine Toys for Tots. Something Mayor Don Mason made sure to highlight during the proceedings.
“I have so much appreciation to Walmart not just in investing in the bricks and the mortar and the asphalt and that’s wonderful. But I appreciate their investment in the associates and the employees, for investing into schools and all the other social interests you get involved with. That helps bring this community spirit together and I thank for everybody for being here today and good luck,” Mason said.
With a new roof, new parking lot, and more check-out aisles, the store manager Kiel Timm says the work was required and benefits shoppers and employees alike.
“The investment is necessary. We got to change with everything else so, you know, we invested $13 million into the facility and it wasn’t just for the associates or, you know, any personal benefit for even Walmart. It’s because it was the right thing to do. It’s the right thing to do for the associates and for the community,” Timm said. “They’ve shopped in the facility for, you know, this many years now. So, the right thing to do would be to lets change with everything else and lets reinvest in what we’re doing and what we’re trying to deliver to create a better experience and overall perception of what we’re here to do. ”
The ceremony featured music by the Zanesville City High School Band and the national anthem performed by Breleigh Curtis.
