Northpointe Drive Speed Limit Reduction in Effect

If you plan on driving on Northpointe Drive in the near future, you will notice a major change and need to slow down.
Due to a traffic order passed by Zanesville City Council, the speed limit on Northpointe Drive, between State Route 146 to State Route 60, has been reduced from 45 to 35 miles per hour, effective Tuesday.
Northpointe has become one of the most traveled roadways in Zanesville, but with that, has come an increase in car accidents. Zanesville Police Department Chief, Kenneth Miller, said 31 crashes were reported in the last three years.
“There have been some serious ones, with the speed limit at 45 we had people running 50-60 miles and hour, so everyone likes a hedge on what the speed limit is,” Miller said.
Miller said officers will be giving out only warnings for a while, as drivers get acclimated to the new speed limit.
