NPD investigates suspicious package in downtown

NEWARK,Ohio–The Newark Police Department is investigating a suspicious package that was discovered in the downtown Tuesday afternoon.

Newark Police report that the package was found at 1st and E. Main Streets shortly after 3:00 p.m.

Initial reports indicate the Columbus Bomb Squad has been called to the scene.
