OAZ P.O.T.G

OAZ Player of The Game

We start off with New Lexington’s last game against Warren where the MVL Small School champions where looking to capture their first district title since 1998. Panthers junior guard Bentley Hanson was huge for New Lexington throughout the entire game even when being face guarded for most of the game. Hanson would come up clutch in the 4th quarter with just about 20 seconds left the Panthers were down 41-38 and Hanson would cash in on a 3 pointer from the wing to tie things up and send it to overtime. But things would go different in OT as Warren went on a 8-0 run and would ice the game as the Panthers epic season came to an end in a 54-46 loss. Hanson would finish with 17 points.

Next we have another common face from Maysville senior guard Alex Bobb. The Maysville Panthers took the floor at Zanesville high school Saturday night against one of the best teams they have faced up to date and they needed everything from their star player. The Panthers have been hot as the season gets tougher by the game and that only motivates big shot Bobb even more. The division 2 East District player of the year started things out pretty normal scoring 11 in the first half against Indian Valley, but as the game got closer to the finish line the better he got. Bobb would score 17 points in the second half to finish with a team high 28 points to help the Panthers secure their 2nd straight District Championship with a 54-44 win.

And last we head out to Tri-valley where junior Max Lyall gets the player of the game award. The Scotties where going up against East Liverpool who had just taken down 2 local area teams in a row with Zanesville and John Glenn falling to them in their previous games but the Scotties would end that trend. Lyall would help the Dawgs go on a 10-4 run in the first half by scoring 4 straight to give them a 29-19 lead early in the ball game.He would finish the game with 14 points and add 5 rebounds as well to help Tri-Valley win it 69-47 and advance to the Regional Semi-final.
