ODOT District 5 Hosts Winter Season Job Fair

CAMBRIDGE, OH – The Ohio Department of Transportation District 5 in Guernsey County hosted a job fair Monday.

The open house job fair was held at the Guernsey County Maintenance Facility.

Gretchen Nihiser, the Business and Human Resource Administrator for ODOT District 5, said they hosted this job fair to help recruit and hire seasonal highway technicians.

She said the highway technicians will be responsible for operating a plow truck and assisting in any winter weather related emergency.

“We are really looking to have a number of individuals to help out our permanent crew,” Nihiser said. “And to make sure we get roadways cleared and safe during the winter season.”

Nihiser said the seasonal employees might also be required to help out with clearing trees from roadways, as well as routine maintenance around the garage.

She said plans are in the works for another job fair like this sometime in the future.

“We are always accepting applications,” Nihiser said. “People can go to careers.ohio.gov to put in their application as well as stop by the Cambridge Office.”
