Officials Attempt to Get Potter’s Alley Up and Running

Local officials are hoping to get the Potter’s Alley project up and running again.

The project is in its preliminary stages and today was the second day for a request for qualifications from developers.

"So what we will do is discuss the history of downtown and give them some demographic information and then see. We want to see if they have done this type of project, where they have done it and what the results were," says Dana Matz the manager for the Zanesville Downtown Association.

Two developers came to a previous meeting, but none came Thursday. Matz says since the year 2000, 30 million dollars had been put into the development of downtown.

"Potter’s Alley development in downtown would add to the vibrancy of downtown.  The more we can do to increase the foot traffic after 5:00 in downtown the better we will be," says Matz.

Matz says Potter’s Alley fell through last time due to bad timing and the sub prime mortgage crisis. He says the project may or may not happen, but they don’t know until they try.
