Ohio Attorney General Discusses the new Advisory Group on Police Vehicle Pursuits

A new announcement made by the Ohio Attorney General, Mike DeWine in the efforts to protect innocent bystanders.
According to Attorney General DeWine, on May 4th he announced the formation of an Advisory Group on Law Enforcement Vehicular Pursuits. This decision came following the recent number of high speed chases resulting in the death of a bystanders.
"I’ve always been interested in it, there has been several prominent cases within the last few months. I just decided, this is something that we need to do. We need to get the best experts, we need to take our citizen working group and give them the experts who will come in and talk about this issue. We are studying, our group is studying pursuit policies from different department in Ohio but, not just in Ohio, nationwide," said Attorney General DeWine.
Attorney General DeWine said one of his goals for forming this group is to simply protect families.
"I think it’s always a balancing question when do you pursue, when do you not pursue but, ultimately I think the key should be protection of the public," said Attorney General DeWine.
Attorney General DeWine said he is not expecting the group to speed up the process or to come up with any policies until it is fully examined and the group is done.
