Ohio Auditor candidate traveled to Zanesville

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- A Republican candidate for Ohio Auditor made a stop in Zanesville.
Republican State Representative, Keith Faber stopped in Zanesville as part of his campaign tour across Ohio. Faber said this trip is all about meeting the different people of Ohio. He said he is running for state auditor because it’s the one office where people put your in charge to hold the rest of the government accountable.
“The auditor is effectively the chief compliance officer. We don’t audit individuals, we don’t collect taxes, we don’t audit companies. We only audit government. In that role one of the most important things you can do is find ways for the government to be more effective, more efficiently, more transparent,” said Faber.
Faber said he came to government as a small business owner. He said that framed his perspective on how the government can do things better and more cost efficiently.
“The auditor is a partisan election, but it’s not a partisan office. You wear the jersey of an umpire and you call balls and strikes. If there’s a Democrat who does something, well you commend them for it. If there’s a Republican who does something bad, you condemn them for it. Ultimately it is the state chief watchdog,” said Faber.
Faber will be running against Democratic candidate, Former U.S. Representative, Zack Space during the general election on November 6.
