ZANESVILLE, OH – Ohio Lieutenant Governor Jon Husted provided some updates on Ohio’s employment rate for the Month of October.

Lt. Governor Husted said Ohio set a record for the most jobs in the history of the state. That’s also according to the October jobs data released from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.

“Ohio set a record for the most jobs in the history of our State.” Husted said. “We also created another 5,800 private sector jobs and we also set the record for the most construction jobs at 253,000.”

Husted said this is great news but another problem is arising.

“One of the challenges I know that we face is that a lot of people in the construction workforce are starting to get older and starting to retire.” Husted said. “We have to build a whole new generation of carpenters, sheet metal workers, plumbers and so on.”

Ohio’s unemployment rate was 3.6% in October.

This marks the ninth month in a row the rate has been below 4% and below the national rate for October of 3.9%.
