Ohio Speaker Announces Plans for Filling Vacant 97th District Seat

COLUMBUS—Speaker of the Ohio House Ryan Smith (R-Bidwell) Wednesday announced that a screening panel will be organized in the coming weeks to begin the process of filling the vacancy in the 97thHouse District, following Rep. Brian Hill’s appointment to the Ohio Senate.  Hill is from Zanesville.

The 97th House District is located in southeastern Ohio and includes Guernsey County and most of Muskingum County.

“I look forward to beginning the process for filling this vacancy,” Speaker Smith said. “Residents of the 97th House District deserve a quality candidate, in a timely manner, who will serve constituents and the community to the best of their ability.”

The House members selected to serve on the panel, as well as the date and location of the panel interviews, will be announced in the near future.

Residents of the 97th House District who wish to be considered for the appointment should provide a letter of interest, along with a resume, to Speaker Smith at 77 South High Street, 14th Floor, Columbus, Ohio 43215 by 5 p.m. on Friday, January 11, 2019. Applicants may also email their letter and resume to Speaker Smith at Rep93@ohiohouse.gov.
