Ohio State Alumni Club to Honor Students and Award Winners

ZANESVILLE, OH – The Ohio State Alumni Club of Muskingum County will hold its annual full membership meeting and recognition event on August 8th at 6:30 PM.

This year, the club will honor 19 students who have been awarded scholarships for the current academic year. The scholarships, totaling $19,600, will be presented during the event while the students are recognized for their hard work and academic achievements.

“I know they really appreciate the funds, and I know that they have a great appreciation for becoming a Buckeye. I hear that probably more from the students than any other key point is that they are really happy to be a Buckeye,” OSUACMC President Terry Kopchak said.

Additionally, the meeting will include the presentation of the OSUACMC Outstanding Alumni’s Award to Dr. Douglas Myers and the Outstanding Friend of OSUACMC Award to Brenda Larrick. This annual meeting not only celebrates the award recipients but also provides an opportunity for alumni to reconnect and strengthen their ties to the university community.

“That’s one of the beauties of being in a smaller community, you get more involved more quickly. I was impressed with the club and its enthusiasm and how much it was doing. It was easy to get involved. It’s like our awards we’re doing this year for our friend of the club and out outstanding alumni, it recognizes people in the community that sometimes go unrecognized as OSU graduates. We have farmers and doctors, and teachers, and lawyers, all kinds of members in the community that make contributions to our club.” Secretary of the Board of Governors for OSUACMC Rick Bunner said.

The event will take place at VFW Post 1058, located at 1318 Putnam Avenue. For a list of all recipients, visit the OSUACMC Facebook page.
