Ohio University Bringing Free AI Workshops to Regional Campuses

ZANESVILLE, OH – If you’ve been looking to learn a little more about the world of AI, Ohio University has a few upcoming opportunities to help you explore.
Recently, the Ohio Department of Higher Education awarded grant monies as a part of the Talent Ready Grant and OU is using those funds to bring AI Workshops to all of the Regional Campuses.
Tricia Denny, the Coordinator of Regional Higher Education Workforce Initiatives and Support at Ohio University, says these workshops are free and open to anyone who registers online ahead of the events.
“They are open to anyone who is interested in learning more about AI or strengthening their use of AI.” Denny said. “As we were mentioning before, if you’re familiar with one platform but maybe you think, there might be another platform out there that would be better suited for my job, they’re going to cover all of those types of things.”
Denny says one of the instructors for the Workshops is Dr. Jen Lisy, and she has conducted something similar in the past but it was only geared towards teachers.
She says the courses had high attendance rates and they received a lot of positive feedback from it, which is why they are now opening it up to high schoolers, businesses, anyone with an interest in bettering their AI knowledge.
“When I met with each of the Regional Campus Deans, we were trying to figure out how best to support each community and we brainstormed together and then when we came together as a whole group, the overwhelming theme was our community members want more information on AI.” Denny said. “It’s constantly changing and evolving and of course, there’s some misconceptions out there and we want to make sure we are using it ethically, properly, and efficiently.”
