ZANESVILLE, Ohio-Â State officials said Ohio made more than one billion dollars in liquor sales in 2015. Which is a record for the state.
State alcohol regulators said Ohioans are buying more premium-priced products choosing “quality over quantity.” Winerak Owner Mike Alfman said his sales increased by 4 percent in 2015. He said his customers are choosing smoother and better quality liquors.
“What we call the top shelve. I think it’s a trend that’s going to continue as the liquor industry continues to come out with the more refine, more distilled, smoother liquors for the customers,” said Alfman.
Alfman said customers are looking for a different type of drink to enjoy. Some drinks that are easy to mix or a cocktail.
“You have these thing people just want to sip. And you can just pour them over ice and enjoy them maybe put a splash of soda with them if you like to. But over all i see the trend still going forward better liquors as far as quality goes,” said Alfman.
Jack Daniels Tennessee Whiskey and Fireball Cinnamon Whiskey were the top sellers in the buckeye state. Alfman said those are always favorites of his customer too.
