Ohioans Win Big in Unclaimed Funds Showdown

ZANESVILLE, OH – Ohio won big this week in more ways than one.
The Ohio State Buckeyes defeated the Michigan Wolverines this weekend on the field but the state of Ohio also won a month long unclaimed funds competition through the Ohio Department of Commerce.
Susie Wagner, the Outreach Supervisor for the Department of Commerce Division of Unclaimed Funds, says the official name of the competition was “Find Forgotten Funds: The Rivalry Continues” and it’s not just the Departments win, it’s also for the thousands of Ohioans that have started on the path to collect funds that are rightfully theirs.
“This competition was a success because more Ohioans searched their name and claimed their money.” Wagner said. “That’s a win, win. It’s a win for them and for us.”
Throughout the month of November Ohio and the state up North went head to head to see who could generate the most online searches for unclaimed funds.
According to the Department, Ohio had approximately 395,000 compared to Michigan’s 346,000.
“Just because the competition is over doesn’t mean our work is done.” Wagner said. “We’re here to serve you and to make sure you go to the website at unclaimedfunds.ohio.gov, and claim your funds today.”
If you believe you may have unclaimed funds, you can head to the Department of Commerce Division of Unclaimed Funds website.
