ZANESVILLE, Ohio – 2025 has been a year of progress for Ohio’s 12th U.S. Congressional District and Representative Troy Balderson.

Balderson shared some of the committee roles he’s involved with in Washington D.C. along with some of the legislation he’s helped to pass that delivers positive benefits to his constituency.

“I serve on the Energy and Commerce Committee, which is the largest jurisdiction committee in congress,” Balderson said. “Energy has been a big focus, obviously with all the development that’s happening here in Central Ohio and the Appalachian Region, we need power. I’ve also been appointed and chosen… I shouldn’t say appointed. Chosen to be the chair of the HEAT. HEAT is House Energy Action Team. We’re really excited about that. That gives me the availability to communicate with members.”

Balderson is working with industry leaders and introducing bills that look to ensure nationwide power stability and encourage economic growth within our district. But energy hasn’t been the congressman’s only concern.

“We got the second Reconciliation Package out,” Balderson said. “The tax package for the American people that’s been a great success. No tax on tips, there’s been a decrease in tax on Social Security, there’s a… you now have a write off for your tax for purchasing a new vehicle. So in that package there was a lot of great things in there. This included Middle America and that’s what our focus was when we did this legislation.”

Other legislative discussions he mentioned included healthcare and transportation costs. What’s more, the more familiar Balderson becomes with D.C., the more familiar the nation becomes with Ohio’s 12th Congressional District.
