One Local Journalism Student is Asking for Help
One local journalism student is asking for the community’s help.
Local student Jacob Wahl has been selected as a National Youth Correspondent for the 2011 Washington Journalism and Media Conference at George Mason University. Jacob will join a select group of students from all over the country for an intensive study of journalism and media.
"Great. It’s really an honor. I feel really fortunate to have this opportunity to be able to go down there to represent Ohio and get the experience I need in the field of journalism and media to better myself," said Wahl.
He is currently a junior at Tri-Valley High School while also taking classes at Zane State. In order to go to the conference at George Mason University, Jacob needs the community’s help. He says they are holding an upcoming spaghetti dinner fundraiser to raise money to cover his housing costs for the week of the conference. He believes this conference will help him reach his future goals.
"I am hoping to go down to Ohio University in Athens. They have the Scripps Journalism School down there. It’s one of the top journalism schools in the country and it’s right in our backyard," said Wahl.
The dinner will be held at the Village of Dresden Municipal Building on Sunday, February 6th from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Price is 6 dollars per meal.
