One Under Arrest after Alcohol Related Crash
Seargent Melanie Appleman of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said one woman is under arrest after a two car injury accident on State Route 40 west. It happened just before 9:30 Sunday night.
Appleman said that a male was driving a pick-up truck east bound on west 40 and a woman and one passenger were traveling in a Prius southbound on North Hopewell Rd.
Appleman says the driver of the Prius failed to yield. It is still unclear which vehicle struck the other at this time as the investigation remains in preliminary stages. Investigators say the driver of the Prius was placed under arrest after a field sobriety test. OVI charges are pending at this time. She did not sustain any serious injuries. The passenger of the Prius was extricated from the vehicle and transported to Genesis Hospital.
The driver of the pick-up was unconscious when first responders arrived on scene and he was transported as well. He was not believed to be wearing a seat-belt at the time of the crash.
Falls Township as well as National Trail and the Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office all assisted on scene. The State Highway Patrol asks that anyone who may have witnessed the incident contact them with information at (330) 339-1103.
