Open bid held for new road paving project

Port Authority

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Zanesville-Muskingum County Port Authority held an open bid today for a new road paving project.

Jim Granger Drive in Eastpointe Business Park needs re-paved and Executive Director, Matt Abbott, said three companies placed a bid – Shelly and Sands, Parnell & Associates and Shelly Company.

“The roadway is only about six tenths of a mile, so it’s not a long roadway, so hopefully the company that we select will be able to get on it and get it done here pretty quick,” Abbott said.

Abbott said the deadline for the road to be complete is November 14th. He said groundwork like this road repaving is important to the economic development of the community.

“Infrastructure is vital to what we do and vital to economic development,” explained Abbott. “The city has done a lot as far as the wastewater and sewer to make those enhancements and the county continues to knock it out of the park with water projects.”

Abbott said they should have a selection made for the company chosen by the end of this week.
