Operation Feed of Muskingum County Plant Sale Fundraiser

Operation Feed Plant Sale

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- The Operation Feed of Muskingum County is having a plant sale fundraiser in efforts of a good cause.

The plant sale fundraiser has been going on for the last 15 years, says Steering Committee of the Operation Feed , June Smith.

In connection with the Muskingum County Hunger Network, all the plant sale proceeds will go towards the distribution of emergency food supplies throughout the Muskingum County pantries.

“It supports the hunger network, which is in charge of 14 pantries and three hot meal programs and they all are all within our county. And with the economy the way it is, there’s more and more people using the food pantries and the hot meal programs this year,” Smith stated.

The plant sale will include flowers like petunias, geraniums, ferns and more.

Smith said the pantries will get about $4 per each basket that is sold during the fundraiser.

“You can return the order forms and get them at the Christ Table, Salvation Army and Eastside Community and you can also fax your orders if you want to get a paper one and fax it to 740-455-6719.” Smith said. “They can pay there and write a check to the Hunger Network or to June Smith or they can pay with cash when they come to pick up the flowers.”

Smith said the plants will be grown by the McDonald Greenhouse and talked about how the plant sale is right on time for Mother’s Day coming up.

Residents have until April 11th to complete their order and can pick up the flower baskets on May 5th at the Salvation Army parking lot.
