ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Muskingum County Hunger Network held their Operation Feed food drive today at the Riesbeck’s Howard Street location.

May is a pivotal time of year for area food banks that must be restocked to account for student lunch programs ending at the conclusion of the school year.

“We’re here to do a food drive for the Hunger Network. We have several pantries throughout Muskingum County that we help with food for our people. And nothing is too less and nothing is too much to give to us. We hand out to everybody. We don’t turn nobody away. No matter what their ethnic or national background, we don’t turn nobody away,” Lighthouse Food Pantry Volunteer Christina Armstrong said.

Riesbeck’s offered $5 dollar, prepackaged grocery bags for customers to purchase and donate to the Eastside Community Ministry’s food truck that was parked out front collecting donations.

“We’re collecting food,” Armstrong said. “It can be perishable items, non-perishable, it can be meats, it can be anything to help with the food for our individuals or our families we hand out to.”

Operation Feed was a one day only event, however Eastside Community Ministry, Life Well and Christ’s Table will accept donations anytime during their hours of operation.
