Operation Spirit Christmas Care Package Fundraiser

Come out to the VFW this weekend and help support Operation Spirit.

This Saturday Operation Spirit will be having a Christmas care package fundraiser. The money raised will help pay for shipping costs to send Christmas packages to members of the U.S. Military troops around the world. Operation Spirit director, Melodie Pittman is excited for the fundraiser.

"We’re having an auction and it will be Saturday at noon at the VFW hall and we have a little bit of everything that we actually kind of carry in the store, minus the toasters and blenders, we didn’t put those in. But furniture, country imperative, craft items, collectible stuff, just a vast array of merchandise that we would carry in the store because we have three storage units full and we really need to get some emptied.

In addition to the Christmas care packages, operation spirit will be making and stuffing stockings for the troops.

"We have several people in the community, organizations, they decorate, the seniors at the senior center, boy scouts, girl scouts, they decorate the stockings for us. Then another lady makes them cuz last year we did like 1,500. And we put gum, candy, toothbrush, toothpaste, razors, some kind of little gift, like a puzzle book, usually q-tips, deodorant. Just daily hygiene needs."

The event will be held after the veterans day parade and is open to the public.
