OSHP Investigating Fatal Hit Skip Accident

Zanesville – Ohio State Highway Patrol Troopers are investigating a fatal hit skip accident on US 40 near milepost 2 in Hopewell Township.

Authorities said Thursday, September 19th, at approximately 9:21 P.M., a vehicle was traveling eastbound on US 40.

A pedestrian, identified as Melvin Fields, age 63, of Zanesville, was walking in the eastbound lanes of US 40 and was struck by the vehicle. Authorities said the vehicle fled the scene.

Troopers are attempting to locate a 2013 GMC Acadia pearl white in color. Damage would be on the left front headlight assembly and fog light assembly.

Anyone with information is being urged to contact the Zanesville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The crash remains under investigation.
