ZANESVILLE, Ohio- A fatal overdose leads to a drug bust here in Zanesville.

It happened in the 700 block of Dryden near Owens. That’s where Police Chief Tony Coury said several overdoses took place. One of the overdoses lead to a death with another overdose patient on life support. Coury said information obtained because of the overdoses lead to a search warrant executed at the home.

”We were able to obtain various amounts of drug paraphernalia. We found some other illegal drugs at the house. We have detained several people and you know it looks like right now we’re going to be talking with the prosecutors office today to get some charges on some of these people involved.”

In a press conference this afternoon Chief Coury said his department is actively investigating the source of the drugs in the community. Coury said his department and the Sheriff’s Office is working hard to get the drugs off the streets.

“We on the law enforcement side are going to continue our efforts to find these people that are putting this poison on our streets. And you know, we are going to try to put them in front of a court and get them criminally charged,” said Coury. “We are using all of our tools to make sure that we apprehend these guys and make their life a little difficult.”

Chief Coury said the individuals arrested during the search warrant should be arraigned in the next three to five days. He also shared that residents should say something if they see something as they are key to helping fight the epidemic.
