ZANESVILLE, Ohio — Troopers with the Zanesville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol will be watching for impaired drivers.

“Traditionally, Super Bowl weekend is a time for friends and family to gather on that Sunday, they want to get together, they want to watch the big game. We are asking that you just be responsible as you join together with your friends and with your family. Just be responsible, drink responsibly, make sure that you have a sober, safe drive, ride home so you don’t come into contact with us on the roadway,” says Sgt. Nathan Dennis, Public Information Officer with the Patrol.

Dennis explains a portion of Ohio’s OVI law.

“In Ohio, what we have is a per se limit. Anybody who is 21 years of age or older, the per se limit for that person is .08% alcohol, breath alcohol. You can’t really put a number on the number of drinks. Everybody’s body is made up differently and how that body absorbs alcohol is made up differently, so you cannot put a number of drinks on how much somebody can consume when it comes to taking alcoholic beverages into their systems,” he adds.

In Ohio, anyone testing at or over .08% blood alcohol level is legally impaired.
