Paul Richard Langland (May 20, 1936 – March 15, 2011)

Zanesville-
Paul Richard Langland, 74, of Zanesville, passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at Genesis Good Samaritan Medical Center. Paul was born in Cincinnati, Oh May 20, 1936 to the late Paul Marion and Edwina Hagley Langland. He resided in Cincinnati with his parents until his father’s death in 1938 then he returned to the Chillicothe area, where he was raised by his Mother, Aunt and Grandparents. He served his country and protected our freedom by serving in the U.S. Army in the Quarter Masters Unit at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. He attended Ohio University where he met his wife, Marianne Shrenker. They were married almost 48 years. Paul graduated from Ohio University with a BS in Education in 1963 and received his Masters in School Administration in 1967. He later received his Superintendent’s Certificate from Ohio University.
Paul and Marianne have two children, Kathy Anne (Rick) Fidishun of Cincinnati, Oh. and John Paul (Tish) Langland of Dallas, Tx. They were blessed with 4 grandchildren: Zachary and Lauren Fidishun and Peyton and Ellie Langland.
Paul was a member of First Christian Church where he had served as a Deacon and an Elder. He was a member of the Retired Teachers Assoc., United Commercial Travelers, a member of the F&AM of Ohio Lodge of Amity #5 of Zanesville, Scottish Rite of Cambridge, Zavi Shrine, Zanesville Concert Assoc., Pioneer & Historical Society of Muskingum Co., Kiwanis, Zanesville Quarter Back Club and was a delivery person for Meals on Wheels. He served on the Sr. Citizen’s Board and was active in other community projects especially those involving the Zanesville City School. At Zanesville High school, he served at different times as Assistant Principal, Roosevelt Jr. High Principal, Grover Cleveland Jr. High Principal and Zanesville High School Principal. He was an educator for 37 years.
Calling hours will be 2-4 and 6-8 PM, Friday, March 18, 2011 at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME, 1150 W. Military Road, Zanesville, Oh. where Masonic Services will be conducted at 8 PM. Funeral services will be 1 PM, Saturday, March 19 at First Christian Church at the Corner of Military and Dresden Road in Zanesville with Pastor Dawn Remster officiating. Burial will follow in Zanesville Memorial Park with full military honors conducted by VFW #1058.
