PAWS of Muskingum County Announces Some Changes to Annual Holiday Auction

ZANESVILLE, OH – PAWS of Muskingum County is gearing up for their annual holiday auction.
On Nov. 1st from 11AM until 3PM at the Welcome Center in Downtown Zanesville, community members will have the chance to look through 100 items to bid on as well as participate in a silent auction and 50/50 drawing.
Tammy Jones, Director of Fundraising, says they do this fundraiser to help low income households to be able to afford medical care for their animals.
“The cost of spaying and neutering has gone up so much and for a lot of people who are pet owners or would like to be pet owners, they can afford to have the pet, feed them, house them.” Jones said. “But the actual surgery and the shots, that’s very expensive, so we try to help people out especially our veterans, senior citizens, the disabled, and low income families.”
There have been some changes to the PAWS Auction this year; Jones says previously it had been set up like an open house, which the public could come through all day.
It also used to take place in the middle of December, she says they decided to move it up to give people more time to shop for the holidays and get people home in time to see the Buckeyes play.
Sue Lake, the Auction Coordinator, says they’ve been lucky to have such a giving community supporting their cause.
“To live in a place that constantly helps and they have helped us a lot with this.” Lake said. “They’ve given us money and gifts and so many things, you know, I wasn’t born here but I sure love living here.”
