Penny Boyer

Penny P. Boyer, of South Zanesville, passed away Friday, October 25, 2024, in her home after fighting colon cancer for 4 years. Although she may have been a “Tiny Tot”, Penny was as feisty as they come.
She was born on December 9, 1950, in East Fultonham, Ohio, a daughter of the late Melvin A. and Betty J Jones Patterson.
Penny was a proud military wife and traveled the country while her husband, Ed, served in the Navy. After his retirement, they established their home in South Zanesville, where they lived for the next 40+ years. Penny was a stay at home mom until all of her children were of school age. She then began working at Sears, where she retired after 25 years. She was also employed by Walmart and enjoyed volunteering at Genesis Hospital for many years.
Penny loved the casino and enjoyed her trips to Scioto and Wheeling Downs. She also enjoyed watching her afternoon “stories”, game shows, and had probably watched every episode of Lassie multiple times.
Although she has played many roles over her (almost) 74 years, her most treasured one was that of Mamaw. Her biggest joy was seeing and spoiling her grandchildren and great grandchild…they were truly the lights of her life.
Penny is survived by her two daughters, Michelle (Shawn Wiseman), who were her caregivers for the past several months, and Stacey (Bob) McCullough of Washington PA; four grandchildren, McKenzie (Cale Spring) and Dalton Miller and Bayleigh and Braeden McCullough; great grandson Kylen Spring; bonus grandchildren, Baylee Wiseman, Alexis (Shawn) Brister, Kiya (Dan Stew) Wiseman, Rhian Wiseman, Wesley Wiseman; bonus great grandchildren, Ember Phillips, Ava and Gracie Brister; her furry companion, Jetta Marie; brother Ted Patterson; sister Sue (Clyde) Campbell; brothers-in-law, Tommy Boyer, Jimmy (Cathy) Boyer, Ronald (Sandy) Boyer; sisters-in-law, Evelyn (Ben) Frederick, Patty Matheny, Janice Boyer; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-three years, Ed; son, Mike; sisters, Patsy (Harold) Gordon, Pam (John) Beall; brothers, Kenny (Roberta), Bill, Jim (Fuzzy), Steve (Becky) and Mark Patterson; step mother, Betty Liggett Patterson; brothers-in-law, Paul and Bobby Boyer; sister-in-law, Miriam Molnar;
A cremation will take place and an inurnment will take place at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, PA at a later date.
William Thompson & Son, 5765 Gladstone Dr, White Cottage, is entrusted to all arrangements.
