Perry County man arrested after road rage incident

PERRY COUNTY, Ohio – On February 20th, 2019 at approximately 8:07am, a Perry County Sheriff’s Deputy was flagged down by a female on State Route 204 who reported to the deputy that a male had shot at her vehicle as she was traveling with three other passengers on State Route 204 near Mount Perry. This was the end result of an apparent road rage incident.

The caller reported that one round had struck the vehicle. Through witness reports of the incident, deputies located the suspect vehicle on Cimarron Road in Madison Township. Sheriff’s Deputies located the owner of the suspect vehicle at his residence of 6351 Cimarron Road / Mount Perry, who was identified as 32-year-old, Jack A. McConnel.

Sheriff’s Deputies took McConnell into custody without incident. A search warrant was executed on McConnel’s home where firearms and ammunition were seized. McConnel was arrested and booked into the Southeast Ohio Regional Jail on felonious assault, weapons under disability and discharging a firearm over a roadway charges. No injuries were reported as a result of this incident.

McConnel is expected to appear in the Perry County Municipal Court for a bond hearing later this week. Assisting at the scene were officers from the Somerset Police Department.
