Perry County Woman Killed in Head-On Crash

ATHENS, OH – Troopers from the Athens Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol are investigating a two-vehicle crash that claimed the life of a Perry County woman.

The crash occurred at approximately 09:18 a.m., Sunday, September 14,  on State Route 682 just south of Wildwood Lane in Athens Township, Athens County.

Authorities said 27-year-old Monica Leigh Perani of Corning was traveling northwest on State Route 682 when her vehicle was struck head-on by a pick-up truck  that went left of center. The pick-up was being operated by 69-year-old Paul Richard Biehl of Athens.

Perani was pronounced deceased on the scene by the Athens County Coroners Office.  Biehl was transported by the Athens County EMS to Ohio Health O’Bleness Hospital
with non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
