Pet of the Week: 1-year-old Jaxs

It’s time for this week’s pet of the week. The Animal Shelter is featuring a one-year-old boxer mix.

Rescue Coordinator, Charity Stevens said Jaxs is a very active dog, and that he’s definitely a dog for an active family.

“I think that his energy level has kind of scared people a little bit away because he does have a high energy level,” Stevens said. “And he wasn’t doing super well with other dogs when he would do the introductions, he was very outgoing and just wanted to play and romp. Some dogs didn’t really know how to take him because his energy level is so high that they would get nervous.”

Even though he had initial problems with meeting new dogs, Stevens said he has been doing great with the animals now. She explained a little more about why they want to get him adopted soon.

“We’re so excited he’s made such progress since he’s been here,” Stevens exclaimed. “He’s been here since January. He is now up with other dogs and doing great. They had some issues in the beginning, but we’ve worked through them, and he does great with other dogs.”

Coming up later this month, the Animal Shelter and the Muskingum County Community Foundation are partnering together. The Foundation is bringing dog houses to the shelter on April 18th which are free to all people who adopt a dog or a cat between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
