Rabbit

ZANESVILLE, Ohio — If you’re looking to add a new furry friend to your family, hop on over to the animal shelter and meet “Gerard.”

Gerard is a Dutch rabbit that was brought to the shelter by a local community member in January. He is a rambunctious one-year old that has a unique color scheme and loves to eat his vegetables.

“This is Gerard, he’s a Dutch rabbit, and he’s been here since January. I believe he was found, someone said they found him out running around and brought him in. Most of the Dutch rabbit’s are black and white, this blue or gray color is a little more rare,” said Kay Madewell, an associate at the Animal Shelter Societty.

The shelter says Gerard is all ready for adoption, but they recommend a family that has experience with rabbits, or has another rabbit that Gerard can be-friend.

“His adoption fee is $35.00, and he is already neutered. all the rabbits are spade and neutered before they leave here. Probably an experienced rabbit owner. It probably wouldn’t be good for him to go to maybe a person that’s never had them. You know, maybe if he had another rabbit friend, someone to hang around with, he might like that,” added Madewell.

Interested parties can contact the shelter for any additional information on Gerard or his adoption at (740)452-1077.
