Pet of the Week: Bunny the Beagle

The Animal Shelter has its very own Easter bunny for someone to adopt.

While not an actual bunny, Bunny the beagle is this week’s pet of the week. Bunny’s former owner dropped her off at the shelter about a week ago. And Executive Director, Jody Murray, wants the 15-year-old beagle to get adopted soon.

“She’s ready to go,” Murray said. “We’d like to get her out as soon as possible. She’s seemed to have gotten a little depressed since she’s gotten here at the shelter and just a really friendly dog, so we’re hoping to find a good home for her.”

Murray said Bunny is a retired hunting dog that would make a great companion for someone who wants a dog who is already fully trained. While focusing on getting bunny and many other animals like her adopted, Murray said plans are also being made for the shelter’s yard sale and flea market.

“It’s a fundraiser for the shelter, people come in and we charge for the tables and we had a great turn out last year as far as people coming and buying, so it was a good day for the vendors and we usually have a shelter table set up where we put some things up that have been donated to us for sale and things like that,” Murray said.

The event is scheduled for May 2nd. Murray said there are tables available for vendors to attend the event, and he added it’s a good day for people to get information or ask questions to animal shelter workers.
