Pet of the Week: Jeannie

Jeannie Pet Of The Week

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The animal shelter is here to grant your wish with an animal looking for their forever home.

Meet Jeannie. She is a 4 years old, Boxer-American Staffy mix. Jeannie has been with the shelter since February, and is a very calm dog. She can be shy around people, so the animal shelter recommends a family that is very mellow and laid back for Jeannie. Jeannie fits well into a peaceful environment. The animal shelter suggests giving her time to adjust to her surroundings because she is timid.

“Until the dog gets used to the environment because every dog there is an adjustment period for any dog. It could be as much as a week or two, it could be as much as a month or two. But Jeannie would require a little extra time to get used to it, but she is a sweetheart so she is well worth the option,” said Animal Shelter Society Assistant Director, Russell Denny.

Saturday is also the last day of the Animal Shelter Society’s shopping event fundraiser with Five Below. 10 percent of the purchases made at Five Below will be donated to the shelter, just bring a copy of the event flyer or a picture of it at checkout. And the Paws and Claws Summer Jam event is coming up on June 1st where volunteers and vendors are still needed. Summer Jam is an afternoon full of fun for the entire family while supporting the shelter.

“It’s also a good day for your family which includes the family for your pets. As long as they’re vaccinated and leashed, bring them over. We’re having nail trims, reduced cost micro-chipping, and also the Sheriff’s Office has been confirmed they’re doing a canine demonstration that day which is really cool if you’ve never seen that,” said Denny.

Jeannie’s adoption fee is $130 which includes the dog license, and everyone is encouraged to visit her at the shelter. If you are interested in volunteering for Summer Jam, you can contact the shelter at (740) 452-1077.
