Pet of the week: ‘China Doll’

China Doll

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- The Animal Shelter Society has a new four-legged friend they’d like to introduce.

China Doll is a six-month-old Maine Coon mix. Her adoption fee is $60. She has had her surgery and is up to date on all of her shots.  Though her name may lead you to believe that she is fragile, her curious personality proves otherwise.

“She’s really unique in that she’s very friendly, likes to be held and a lot of folks like the Maine Coon breed and she certainly has the personality of that,” said Jody Murray, Executive Director of the Animal Shelter Society.

One of China Doll’s shelter buddies, Quinn, was lucky enough to find her fur-ever home Friday; though she has quite the trip to make. The Kleeberger family traveled all the way from Rosemount, Minnesota just to adopt Quinn because of her uncanny resemblance to a pup they recently lost.

“We adopted a dog that we ended up losing after 10 1/2 months to a heart issue and we really liked her when we saw her and Quinn looks identical so we just had to have her, we had to see if she was the same personality,” said Jamie Kleeberger, who drove 13 hours overnight with her two daughters.

In hopes of more success stories like Quinn’s, the shelter is hosting their annual Christmas open house on Saturday, December 2nd from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. where they will feature adoption specials.
