Pet of the Week: Snowflake

Pet

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- Easter is just two days away and there’s a bunny ready to hop its way into your heart.

This isn’t Peter Cottontail, but his friend Snowflake instead. Snowflake is one of four rabbits up for adoption at the Animal Shelter. She is a year-old and once she has her surgery she’ll be ready to join your home. Snowflake’s adoption fee is $20. Shelter executive director said rabbits are a long term commitment and should be treated like other pets.

“We want people to treat them as pets and pet them and socialize them and things like that. They’ll end up being a much better pet for a long time if you do that,” said Jody Murray the Shelter Executive Director. “It’s a daily commitment of feeding and watering and cleaning their cage.”

The shelter is also gearing up for its first reverse raffle. The event will take May 3rd at Bryan Place. Murray said there will be food along with the raffle.

“There’s going to be an early bird everyone that buys a ticket prior to April the 15th will go into a special drawing and that drawing is worth $500. The top prize for the raffle is $5,000. So it’s going to be some money given away that night,” said Murray.

Tickets for the raffle are $100. For ticket information, or to meet Snowflake, you can contact the Animal Shelter at 740-452-1077.
