Philips Meats Processing Secures $500K Grant for Facility Upgrades
ZANESVILLE, OH – A local business is really bringing home the bacon, thanks to a generous grant from the state of Ohio.
Phillips Meats Processing, a family-owned business in Zanesville, has been awarded $500,000 for facility upgrades through the Ohio Meat Processing Grant Program. The owner of Phillips Meats, Dale Phillips, expressed gratitude for the grant, acknowledging that the needed facility improvements would not be possible without this financial support.
“I couldn’t do it without this. So, hats off to the people in Ohio that’s doing this for us,” Phillips said.
With this grant, they plan to upgrade their holding pens, automate the kills floor, and improve packaging processes in the processing room. These changes will not only boost production but also make work quicker and more efficient for their employees.
“We’re upgrading our kill floor, and that’s going to make it easier for our guys. We can do more volume which will attract more people and more clients,” Phillips said.
Phillips Meats Processing is one of three Muskingum County businesses to receive funding from the Meat Processing Grant Program. Shirer Brothers Meats in Adamsville and Olde Village Meats in Frazeysburg has also been awarded.
