Philo-Duncan Falls Bridge Reopens Monday

At Rusty Rooster and you’ll find lots of empty chairs, tables and a lack of customers. Owner Ellen Sizemore told us, due to the closing of the bridge business has been very slow.

“It has been really slow. People don’t want to take the long way around and use the extra mileage. Like today there’s nobody here today and it could be Christmas too but, i’d say it was mostly the bridge and stuff,” said Sizemore.

Owner of Lock 9 Pizza, Marica Glaub has suffered in some of the same ways.

“We do approximately half the business that we were doing when the bridge was open. I don’t think it has anything to do with the time of the year because this is basketball season. We should be busy and we’re not,” said Glaub.

Globe said her customers felt the repair process could have been handled differently.

“They feel it could’ve been better timed. By doing it right during the holidays and right after school started. Why wasn’t it done earlier in the year? But, I think if it needs repair, it needs repairs,” said Glaub.

The owners tell us no matter how the bridge repairs were handled they are just happy to see it reopen and they’re both looking forward to one thing.

“Just being busy the way we used to be before it closed,” said Glaub.

“Lot more people, lots of more people. I like to see to our group come back in and our patrons,” said Sizemore.
