Police Canines Meet Zanesville Residents

Several Zansville Police canines took the afternoon off to meet the very people they are helping to protect.

From 11 to 1 Saturday all were invited to stop by North Valley Bank on Maple Avenue to meet Vestly, one of the trained police canines.

“All three of our dogs are duel role dogs, they can do apprehension work tracking searching for people hiding for us, but they also search for drugs,” said Lieutenant William Shaw from the Zanesville Police Department.

Vestly showed off his tracking skills in front of a small crowd as officers demonstrated his ability to sniff out illegal drugs. However, the event was about more than just the canines, it also showcased a local artist.

“I was invited by North Valley Bank to present an art exhibit and when I was invited to do so I had the canine project going on with my gallery and I asked if I could bring that with me,” said Gallery G. Owner and Artist, Bob Grayson.

If you would like to view Grayson’s artwork it will be on display at North Valley Bank for the remainder of the month.
