Police Investigate Friday Shooting

Zanesville Police Detectives are continuing to investigate a Friday night shooting.

It happened outside a residence located at 1138 Ridge Avenue.

Detective Sergeant Ric Roush says the victim, a 20-year-old Zanesville man, suffered one gunshot wound to the upper chest area.

He was taken to Ohio State University Medical Center and is listed in critical condition.

Roush says officers were called to the scene of the shooting at 10:35 Friday night and found the victim lying in the front yard of the residence with one gunshot wound to his chest.

Detectives are continuing to interview possible witnesses, family members and acquaintances of the victim to determine what may have taken place prior to the shooting.

Anyone with information is asked to call Zanesville Police Detective Dan Arter at 455-0700. A motive for the shooting is unknown at this time. The name of the victim was not released by police.
