MUSKINGUM COUNTY, Ohio- The Zanesville Muskingum County Port Authority held a meeting today that discussed community improvement projection.

Executive Director of the Port Authority, Matt Abbott said the new Business Retention Expansion program is allowing them to assist with existing companies looking to expand.

“Also working with our state and regional level partners, Jobs of Ohio and Ohio Southeast. They have a multitude of different programs that can assist businesses,” Abbott stated. “Not only for capital expenses such as building expansions or equipment, but they can work in the HR realm as well for training and recruitment for new employees and talent recruitment of positions as well, and also our local Ohio Means Jobs team. We work with them on a regular basis to assist in what they do best.”

A lot of the businesses can face a risk when looking at a capital expenditure, but Abbott said their mission is to do what they can to decrease those risks.

They also talked about project updates within the community, however, Abbot was not able to state the names of the projects.

“Today we had some updates on a few projects that we’re working on. Infrastructure projects, some road improvements in two different locations in the county,” Abbott said. “At this time of the year you see a lot of companies that look at capital investments just due to the seasonal nature of construction. So we’re just ongoing work with companies to get them on the right path for success and to help facilitate efforts for them to do what they do best and that’s create new jobs for our community. ”

Abbott said things are looking positive with the upcoming projects and the expansion of company resources that are set for this year.
