ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Zanesville Muskingum County Port Authority is a behind the scenes agency that promotes local economic development and growth.

The Port Authority recently held its year end meeting and Executive Director Eric Reed shared some of the details that were discussed during that session.

“We recapped our 2025 year, we had a great year,” Reed said. “Successful insight development aided in the housing expansion within the county. We had some success with grant awards. Also made some initiatives on the marketing side. Continued our site developments, site readiness. Discussed our data relative to Muskingum County Workforce employee trainings and wages. And set out our goals for 2026.”

Reed wants to keep the momentum rolling in 2026 by continuing projects that were started in 2025, plus updating and expanding their digital presence, which showcases the community’s attributes to prospective companies looking to relocate.

“So specifically, we just recently were awarded a grant to update all of our video marketing and are in collaboration with some other entities to have just updated interviews with folks and landmarks and events in the county. So that when those promotional items are sent out, they can get a real world updated snapshot of the area,” Reed said.

There are many facets to economic improvement, from community attraction to improving and expanding utilities and infrastructures that provide a better life for the workforce. The Port Authority is a key driver for all of those things that make Muskingum County a better place to work and live.
