Positive Side of Tax Season

There’s the holiday season, hunting season and of course many others most people look forward to…and then there is the dreaded tax season.

There is one benefit to tax season and that’s having them filed for free. This is the fifth year the United Way has offered the free service. One difference this year, is they will not accept walk – ins. Some Zanesville residents Saturday took advantage of the offer getting it done and out of the way well before the April 15th deadline.

"We have volunteer counselors who sit down with them and assist them into putting their information into the benefit back software and then at the end they just simply e-file their state and federal returns" Amy Davis, United Way.

The service makes taxes easier on your end and of course, it’s free. The United Way will offer this service through the first week in April. Having all your forms helps the volunteers and as long as you pass a background check verifying the w-2’s are actually yours, you are eligible for the help.

"For those who maybe a little intimidated by the irs or doing taxes on their own or they’re not quit sure where their forms go or they’re not sure how to use the computer in order to do that this is something we assist them in doing and it takes the ease or the worry out of doing it on your own" said Davis.

To make an appointment to get your taxes done you can call the united way at 740-454-6872.
