Power of the Purse Fundraiser

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- Local women will have an opportunity to get dressed up for a ladies night out while helping the community.

The Southeast Ohio American Red Cross is preparing for the 13th annual Power of the Purse Fundraiser. Red Cross Director Marlene Henderson said they are able to raise approximately $50,000 a year by selling tickets and auctioning off purses. She said this is one of their largest fundraisers every year.

“So it goes right back into our programs that we do. Helping with fires, disasters, and everything else,” said Henderson

Tickets are still available for purchase with all of the proceeds benefiting the community. Henderson said the Red Cross is still looking for donations. She said the auction of the purses and other items makes this fundraiser truly successful.

“A lot of our purses come with incentives. Some of the incentives can be sunglasses, hats, a good book to read, gift cards, anything like that. Use your imagination, if you’re making a donation because that’s literally the bread and butter of what we’re doing is our live auction,” said Henderson
