Prematurity Awareness Day

Wednesday is Prematurity Awareness Day and The March of Dimes released its annual Premature Birth Report Card that grades each state.

Ohio received a "D" grade with a pre-term birthrate of 12.6 percent. It’s better than last year when the state received an "F", with a pre-term birthrate of 13.2 percent.

The U.S. was still rated a "D" with a 12.3 percent pre-term birthrate, down point 4 percent from last year.

Following three decades of increases, in 2008 the nation saw the first two-year decline in the pre-term birthrate.
