Preparations In Progress For MCCF Groundhog Day Celebration

ZANESVILLE, Ohio — Staff and volunteers at the Muskingum Co. Community Foundation are now in the final hours of preparing for their annual Groundhog Day celebration.
Volunteers are taking inventory of donated items to be auctioned during its 25th anniversary.
“We’ve got a lot of auction items, some great live auction items, some new ones. We’ve got a NASCAR experience, we’ve got a basket-weaving experience with Dresden & Company. We’ve got some gift cards to, let’s say, Top Golf and some experiences with other places locally as well as little weekend excursions. Local artists also have donated some of their items to auction off,” says Lisa Karling, Council President of the Muskingum Co. Community Foundation.
The evening highlights two awards: the Brian T. Wagner award and the Dick Johnson Civic Leadership award. The live auction will be held in between the two awards ceremonies.
Food will be prepared by students of Marco Adornetto, Head Chef in Zane State College’s Culinary Arts Program.
“It’s such a fun evening to be in a room full of community leaders and the business people and just the artists. There are tons of artists that come to showcase their art in the auction and just to be able to be part of the awards and see the recipients and listen to their acceptance speeches and really listen to how they’ve given back to our community whether it’s on the short term or the long term.”
