MUSKINGUM COUNTY, Ohio- Today is Random Acts of Kindness Day and the Primrose Retirement Community residents are giving out gifts to some Zane State College students.

Random Acts of Kindness Day is a time to celebrate and encourage random acts of kindness throughout the community.

Primrose Retirement Community participates in the day every year and this year they received about $400 to put together the gift bags for the students, according to Katie Ware, Sales Director at Primrose.

“We have four of our residents with us today. Getting them out and seeing young people, they love doing that and giving back to the community. The kids here work so hard so just something to brighten their day,” Ware stated.

The residents were able to go inside four of the selected classes. Ware said 30 out of the 71 gift bags included Amazon gift cards.

Faculty member at Zane State College, Jennifer King, talked about how the Amazon gift cards will really allow the students to purchase some additional things they may need.

“The students were thrilled to find out that they were the recipients. A $10 gift card to Amazon can help them purchase school supplies, maybe notebooks and paper, some pens, anything for school,” King said. “Maybe even some books for leisure reading, but it really just encourages them to know that there were individuals and organizations in the community who were thinking of them and wanted to help them out.”

King said that Primrose’s act of kindness gave the student a great source of encouragement and they are grateful for the gifts that were received.
